Blackbird by Leo Paul Robert (1851-1923)

£24.99

Leo Paul Robert (1851-1923) – was the most highly regarded Swiss ornithological artist at the turn of the last century. But he only established a reputation as a landscape painter and painter of birds later in his career.

Perhaps his best known work was Les Oiseaux dans la Nature (1878-1880), a folio publication of 60 fine chromolithographic plates. These are highly sought after today.

This picture, of a Blackbird, is a fine lithographic print from the book ‘Nos Oiseaux’ by Eugène Rambert (1951).

Description

This picture, of a Blackbird, is a fine lithographic print from the book ‘Nos Oiseaux’ by Eugène Rambert (1951).

They were tipped into the book much as pictures in a photo album, and were I think intended to be framed, much like the earlier folio prints, and can still be used to that end today.

Simply framed in a solid lime wood type frame and double mounted in off white and beige. Size: 7.5” (19cms) by 9.5” (24cms).
